About the Creators

Author - Brett Seigle

Brett is an elementary school music teacher with a second license in early childhood education. She loves music, salsa dancing, cooking and traveling. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, her interest in other parts of the world was sparked when she travelled abroad to Paris as a Brooklyn Tech student. Since then, Brett has visited many parts of the world. The idea for this book came about when she was a graduate student at Hunter College taking an early literacy class. In this class she had to create a dramatic play area and find books that would match the theme. Her area was travel themed, but she was unable to find books about other cultures geared toward younger readers, so she wrote one. Eighteen years later she has not come across such books. Chat the Cat: Paws in Paris is the first book in what will be a series that exposes young children to other cultures.
